Description

The GEM (Green Energy Management)-SILKWAY (the former GEM) 2024 Summer school is at its 11th year. GEM- SILKWAY is an International project, now involving more than 17 partners all over the world.

In process of energy transition, reflections on issues of public concern that affect cultures and societies at the global level are needed. The aim of GEM-SILKWAY CENTRA ASIA is to adopt a cross-cultural perspective in analysing the meaning of concepts like sustainability and human development.

Energy transition has become a hot issue, which is debated at the global level from different perspectives, that is from geographic, cultural, scientific, social, economic, and technological ones. The Summer School is thus aimed at bringing together experts in different fields - such as academics, professionals, and institutional representatives – with the interest in opening a productive interdisciplinary and intercultural dialogue on questions of common concern. In particular, the Summer School will be focused on the transformation of geopolitics in relation to energy crises, starting from the ongoing changes occurred in Central Asian area. Students will thus benefit of lectures, debates with international scholars and students, cultural activities, and visits in place of interest.

  • Energy transition in Central Asia countries;
  • Geopolitics, rights for the commons;
  • Implementation of Sustainability Goals in the region;
  • Ecologization of the campuses;
  • Importance of risk for sustainable development
  • Artificial Intelligence in Green Energy Management
  • Green energy development trends: overview and opportunities at Kyrgyzstan
  • In a special one-day session, the current process of energy efficiency of the UNIMIB campus will be discussed as case study (including economic, technological, structural aspects).

Prerequisites

GEM-SILKWAY is aimed at young graduates of master's degrees, master's degree programs, PhD students and PhD graduates, researchers, professionals in the field mainly with a scientific background. Knowledge of English is a mandatory requirement for all participants. Selection will be made on the basis of CV and a motivation letter.
